Tibetan singing bowls ring with an ancient power that is a mystery to most of us.

They have their roots in the animistic shamanic religions of the Nepalese/Tibetan border

area of the Himalayas where master craftspeople fashioned the bowls from seven or five precious metals.

This introductory workshop will be an experiential journey through the sounds of the bowls,

their history and use in meditation/relaxation and deep listening practices.

Attendees will learn the various techniques of making the bowls sing in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Michael Ormiston and Candida Valentino have been playing and studying the bowls for 20 years and have given concerts and recorded with Tibetologist Alain Presencer, Gongmaster, Don Conreaux and Frank Perry.

They recently played for His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan Foundation.

Instruments: A limited number of bowls will be available; please bring your own if possible.

Experience: Beginners welcome.
